Edelman
After graduating from the University of Chicago in 2017, I accepted a Producer Intern position with Edelman. My initial contact with the professional side of video production being at a Big 4 firm was an invaluable experience. I had the opportunity to not only observe, but also participate in a content production process that spanned the globe. Outside of the growth that came from succeeding at the production responsibilities listed in the job description, this internship was also a catalyst for my growth as a video editor. When I accepted the internship, there was not room for me to maintain a desk space within the area of the floorplan known as “Producer’s Row.” Due to the limited space, my desk area was relocated in the video editing bay down the hall. Through both direct instruction and observational osmosis, I improved as a video editor at a rate that I have failed to recreate since. I was very literally in the room as every frame and tweak was made perfect on the meticulously crafted video work that the firm hung its reputation on. Below are a selection my favorite projects I delivered during my internship period.
Pringles Thanksgiving Dinner
Launch Video
The Pringles Thanksgiving Dinner campaign was one of the first projects I worked on during my internship. I was the assistant producer on this project where I coordinated the filming, editing, and delivery of the video while also sourcing the stock footage.
The One Show for Creativity Submission
The initial Pringles Thanksgiving Dinner campaign was so successful that later in the year, I produced this video for the firm to submit to The One Show for Creativity, an advertising media awards show.
Synergy Poop Troop
Cannes Lions Ad Awards Submission
This video that I worked on was a submission to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, an advertising media award show. The clip was recounting the success of Synergy Poop Troop emoji campaign. I took my first big boy business trip for this project when I had to fly from Chicago to Atlanta to coordinate and manage the recording of our medical industry influencer’s product testimony.
Uncle Ben’s Rice
Kid Kitchen - Bring Your Child to Work Day
I produced this clip for Uncle Ben’s Rice where I try to source the perfect rice recipe by interviewing the children of Edelman staff who were in the office for Bring Your Child to Work Day.
Department of Defense Warrior Games Ad Awards Submission
This video was submitted to the 2018 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Although this submission did not win any awards at the festival, the project was a valuable learning experience in managing the creative production of an entire project from start to finish. I doubt I will ever forget the experience of calling every recording studio in the Denver metro area trying to schedule a remote recording session for our narrator.
Content Overflow
Although I didn’t develop a personal long-standing connection to every project I delivered during my internship, the experience kept me constantly immersed in the production process creating content for international brands.
