After completing a project for GOLDEN in 2021, the cultural advocacy group followed up to produce a second round of videos. This round of videos was a series of interviews with current Genetic Counselors detailing their individual journeys to their current role in the Genetic Counseling industry. When they contracted me for a second project, we were able to use our experience from the first time working together to inform our production process for the new project. We chose to record this second round of videos using the participants’ personal webcams in an efforts to save time and additional expenses. Being the artist, I have an interest in producing the highest quality image, regardless of the project that I may be working on. GOLDEN on the other hand, had a different set of priorities, choosing to value a shorter production schedule and minimizing additional project expenses. The compromise between these two working interests was able to be more effectively communicated because we had the previous experience of working together. And as a result, we were able to more effectively collaborate to produce video content that best fit the needs of the client.
